Healing Is My Bread

We are on a journey...one we didn't plan for; one we were not ready for; but, one we are conquering together.  There are so many things I have learned along the way - about people, about friends, about the medical world.  Tonight, I want to reflect on what Luke has taught me.  Luke has shown me that in this big, budy world we live in, there are only a few things that truly matter.  If we slow down, we see all we need is right in front of us - our family.  I was always so busy - letting days just pass - worrying about small things that just don't matter.  On New Year's Eve morning when our world stopped, I realized  what we need is right here - our sweet family of 4.  Everything around you can change, but our family remains the same.  I love that - and I want to remember that everyday.

I have had the unique opportunity of experiencing God in such a close, personal way - like no other time I have experienced in my life.  My heart has been broken into a thousand pieces, but it's the moments where I can feel God putting each piece back in its place - one by one - on His own time.  I know in time, my heart will be complete again - it will be whole because I have faith our journey is continuing with mountaintops in sight.  This week has been full of healing - lots of broken pieces have found their their way home.

I have seen Luke defy more odds this week.  When you are told that your child will most likely not walk or not talk again, your heart breaks and you surrender yourself to the only One who knows what your child will and won't do.  God has shown Himself so big in Luke's life.  We have done plenty of crying and pleading, but we have never lost faith.  Even in our lowest, saddest moments, God has been  there - almost like a whisper - indescribable comfort.

We have put together 3 video clips, so you all can share with us in Luke's triumphs by the grace and strength of our God.  To everyone who has stopped and read this blog, we have felt you along the way - you tears, your cheers, but most of all your prayers.  This video should renew your faith in our Father.  I have said it so many times - but once more as a reminder - Luke should not be able to move or coordinate movement because his cells have died (necrosis) - they don't come back.  There are at least 10 MRIs for proof - but through our God, our Heavenly Father, Luke can move!  Get a tissue and watch our sweet boy - Believe.  This is God.  There is no other explanation!

One last thing, before you watch...let me explain the beautiful voice behind the video.  At Luke's benefit concert, we got the opportunity to meet an amazing woman.  This is a lady whose voice can bring you to your knees.  God has truly blessed this lady beyond measure with a gift to reach millions of people.  I know she will change millions of lives because she's certainly changed our life - forever.  Gail Holmes sang at Luke's concert.  When I heard her, I immediately felt the presence of God.  Luke and I got to spend some time with her after the concert.  She's amazing.  After the concert at 4am, God gave this song to Ms. Gail Holmes for Luke.  We have kept it to ourselves for so long - listening every day; believing the words; being inspired, but now it's time to share this beautiful gift.  God uses people and uses them in perfect timing - Gail Holmes was more than perfect for us and most certainly at the most perfect time.  The song is called Healing Is My Bread.  When listening to this quick clip, keep in mind that Gail Holmes sang this song into her I-Phone and sent it by text - and it's amazing - impressed?  You should hear her in person or on her CD.  In fact, go to Target and buy it - Receive Your Love by Gail Holmes -  In NO WAY did Gail want me to put this out there for her - in fact, she has no idea that I am putting this song out on the blog, but the time is right and the song is perfect.  May you be blessed as our family as been -

Healing Is My Bread by Gail Holmes written for Luke

(Matthew 15:26 Jesus identified healing as bread)

I have followed your story off and on since this happened. I want to tell you that I think Luke is an amazing little boy and I think you are amazing parents. The fact that you are still able to praise God and find a positive in just about everything is so encouraging. I think there is a reason God chose you for this journey, because He knew you had enough faith to take on the challenge. I know i wouldn't have the same faith and courage that you guys have. You have taught me so much by example and I admire you. I admire your faith and most of all I admire your beautiful son. I am local to Jax, I was in chic fila at the town center about a week ago and I saw a couple wearing their Luke shirts, it made me smile to see that and realize that there are so many people praying and pulling for your family. God bless you and so much love to you guys. It takes an extrodinary family to take this kind of journey the way you guys have. xoxo

YAY LUKE!!!!! And thank God our Healer for miracles and for providing shelter in storms that are too much to bear.

We too keep checking for updates; Luke and your family are always on my heart. We are so thankful that Luke is seeing real progress and continue to pray that he will sleep well, feel rested and have the determination to keep fighting.

So good to hear you have felt everyone's support and prayers across all the miles - you really do have an army of people cheering you on and praying a fortress of protection and healing on your family.

We believe more miracles are in store and can't wait to hear about more mountain tops and pray you through the valleys.

Luke is such a hero!!

I have been following Luke and his battle since the beginning. Praise Jesus! I want to share his story with my church. I work in medicine and sometimes it's difficult to give advice when you know what the tests say but also that God can change any outcome. We never lost hope in my little girl when she was born at 30 weeks and neither did God. She is almost 3 and hasn't suffered any major problems. In fact, she's singing the Max and Ruby theme right now. lol. I pray for further healing for Luke and your family. God bless.

My God...You are an awesome God....how do we deserve one so pure, who loves us so unconditionally, who maketh us to see and witness to Your wonder....I made a vow to You that if Luke should walk again that each day for the rest of my life I would do something for You....and today that journey begins....Lord, what can I ever do to repay such grace and compassion....in my littleness I offer you all that I have and all that I am to be used for bringing others closer to You!!! That is what this is all about...You have shown us through Luke that its not about us but about living our lives for You...Luke, I have never seen anything more beautiful that watching you walk again....sweet boy, how you changed my life forever...I wont stop praying now...I know He has more miracles in store for you...
